Rescuers Take Two Days To Evacuate Orang Asli Woman Bitten By Snake In Gerik

Gerik: Rescuers took two days to evacuate an Orang Asli woman from the Lenweng Orang Asli Village near Pos Kemar, Gerik after she was bitten by a snake on Tuesday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Perak Fire and Rescue Department operations division assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad stated that a team of firefighters and police, along with two mountain guides, embarked on a 10-kilometre trek to bring out the victim, Ana Along, 32, to Pos Kemar. The department received a call about the incident at 3 pm yesterday.

The rescuers began their journey to Lenweng Village, covering a distance of about 50 km, starting at 6 pm yesterday and arriving on the scene at about 12.30 am.

Sabarodzi noted that the victim was transported from the village by the rescue team at 8 am, taking approximately 11 hours to reach Pos Kemar by 7 pm. The victim was subsequently sent to the Pos Kemar health clinic for treatment and will be transferred to Gerik Hospital tonight.
