Penang: Resorts World Genting: Resorts World Genting (RWG) inaugurated its "CNY in the Sky" campaign today to mark the 2026 Chinese New Year (CNY) celebrations, combining traditional elements with cutting-edge digital storytelling technology.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the highlight of this year's celebration is the premiere of the 2026 CNY brand film, crafted to immerse audiences in a festive mood through an innovative narrative. This film is inspired by themes of unity and cultural heritage, featuring Tian Ma, the RWG official IP character, leading viewers on a journey through Resorts World Genting.
The film's production was a collaborative effort with the award-winning agency, Ampersand Advisory, under the leadership of its CEO and co-founder, Sandeep Joseph. The visual artistry and cultural storytelling were brought to life by film director Chew Boon Wai, with contributions from Ampersand Advisory's creative director Claudia Low, and Head of Creative Services, Janice Kiew. Strategic support was also provided by Aqina Group of Companies managing director, Wesley Tan Seah Ging.
The Genting SkyWorlds Immersive Studio has achieved a significant milestone by being recognized by the Malaysia Book of Records as the highest-altitude immersive attraction in Malaysia. This accomplishment underscores RWG's commitment to offering creative storytelling and distinctive experiences for visitors.
Spencer Lee, RWG Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Public Relations, stated that the "CNY in the Sky" campaign is designed to celebrate tradition through impactful experiences. "CNY is about coming together, reflecting on the past year, and looking ahead with hope together," he remarked at the launch ceremony.
Visitors at the Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park can enjoy the CNY-themed immersive video at Studio Plaza, featuring impressive visuals and seasonal storytelling, from now until March 3. RWG also introduced 'Tian Ma' as the official mascot for the 2026 CNY, aligning with the Year of the Horse, symbolizing progress and forward movement.
For merchandise enthusiasts, limited-edition Tian Ma collections will be available for Genting Rewards members through point redemptions and purchases. On the culinary side, RWG is offering various festive highlights, including the Sau Gong Dinner and the Hoi Gong Dinner. The Genting International Convention Centre (GICC) provides pork-free banquet packages starting from RM2,880 per table of 10, available for booking until March 31, with complimentary Deluxe Rooms at the First World Hotel for bookings of five tables or more.
For those interested in buffet options, Coffee Terrace will offer a range of CNY culinary delights, while the Old Friends Restaurant, Season, Genting Palace by Crockfords (non-halal), and FUHU restaurant will serve festive meals from February 16 to March 3.
The celebration continues with the CNY eve countdown show, "CNY in the Sky Prosperity Shows," and the "Auspicious Grab and Win" contest, providing various rewards for visitors. Traditional elements are emphasized through lion dance parades, cultural performances, and a vibrant bazaar at Chin Swee Caves Temple, alongside RWG's Flower Market at SkyAvenue featuring CNY treats like pineapple and durian tarts.
