Kuala lumpur: RHB Banking Group and the National Heart Institute (IJN) have initiated a 40-foot mobile clinic equipped with diagnostic tools, marking the launch of a new three-year strategic partnership aimed at delivering preventive healthcare directly to underserved and remote communities.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the mobile unit will offer services such as health screenings, early detection, and wellness education, with a focus on closing the healthcare access gap in rural areas across Malaysia. This initiative forms a significant part of the broader collaboration between RHB and IJN, which also aims to promote employee wellbeing and strengthen financial inclusion, particularly among underrepresented and low-access groups.
RHB Banking Group managing director Datuk Mohd Rashid Mohamad emphasized that the programme reflects the group's ongoing commitment to social impact through healthcare delivery. 'IJN has been a trusted partner in supporting our wellness initiatives, including events like the RHB LEKAS Highway Ride and RHB Langkawi Ride. This next phase expands our reach, with the mobile health unit set to serve even more communities over the next three years,' he said in a statement today.
As part of the partnership, RHB Islamic Bank is spearheading the banking aspect of the IJN University College (IJNUC) Siswa programme, aimed at empowering students with financial tools. This initiative enables students to open RHB Pro Savings Accounts, automatically linking them to mobile banking and DuitNow QR services for seamless cashless transactions on campus. More than 900 students are expected to benefit annually, gaining access to exclusive discounts on telecommunications, food, and sports gear through RHB's strategic partners.
'Through this programme, we're helping young adults build essential money management skills that will benefit them throughout their studies and beyond,' added Mohd Rashid.
IJN Group chief executive officer Prof Datuk Seri Dr Mohamed Ezani Md Taib stated that the mobile clinic has already reached 192 communities in 10 states and that the expanded partnership will further IJN's mission to deliver cardiac and preventive care where it's needed most. 'This partnership is about more than just expanding access to healthcare, it's also about equipping the next generation of healthcare professionals to succeed in a fast-evolving, digital world. By giving students access to financial tools and literacy, we're preparing them not only for their medical careers, but for life in a tech-driven future,' he said.
The collaboration will also feature joint wellness campaigns in schools and rural communities, exclusive health screening packages for RHB staff, and special benefits for selected RHB customer segments.
