Kangar: The Social Welfare Department (JKM) allocated RM1.92 million to provide food at 24 temporary relief centres during the recent floods in Perlis.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli disclosed that the floods, occurring on November 23, affected 8,058 victims. In response, RM515,000 was dedicated to supplying essential items to those impacted by the disaster.
Further addressing the state assembly during a question session, Mohd Shukri mentioned the state government's proactive measures, including the allocation of funds through the Disaster Relief Trust Account. This account, managed by the district administration division, also received contributions from public donations to support the flood relief efforts.
Additionally, Mohd Shukri highlighted the financial support provided by the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA), which contributed to the same trust account. A total of RM236,120 was utilized for flood operations and management in Perlis. Moreover, NADMA allocated RM100,000 to the Civil Defence Force (APM) specifically for flood operations, with RM97,230 spent primarily on food and drink for the responders during the recent floods.
