RM123 Million Aid Distributed to Over 33,000 Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans

Bukit Beruang:The Ministry of Defence has allocated RM123.92 million through the Cost-of-Living Aid (BSH) programme to assist over 33,000 veterans of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) in need, as announced by Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, this aid programme encompasses various forms of support, including welfare, healthcare, housing, education, and economic empowerment for the veterans. Adly Zahari emphasized the importance of ensuring that these initiatives reach the intended recipients during his visit to the Bukit Katil Series 2 MADANI Veteran Care Programme (PVM) in Taman Bukit Melaka.

Present at the event were Sophian Isswandy Ismail, deputy director-general of the MAF Veteran Affairs Department (JHEV), and Major Muhammad Zarifi Tumin, director of the Melaka and Negeri Sembilan MAF JHEV Branch. The ministry highlighted that the PVM programme is part of its ongoing efforts to focus on the welfare of veterans, delivering assistance in a more accurate and targeted manner.

This initiative aligns with Core 7 of the National Defence Strategic Plan (PSPN) 2026-2030, which focuses on MAF Veteran Wellbeing Empowerment. The plan aims for a comprehensive approach to improving the quality of life for MAF veterans. Implementing the PVM with a grassroots approach fosters cross-agency collaboration to better identify and address the welfare needs of veterans.

During the programme, visits were made to 14 residences, which included seven ailing veterans, six widows, and one child with disabilities. Various forms of assistance were provided, including hospital beds, mattresses, wheelchairs, walking frames, and disposable nappies. Additionally, veterans received BSH, Veteran Cards, Funeral Arrangement Assistance (BMJ), and the Pingat Jasa Malaysia (PJM) award.
