Kuala lumpur: A total of RM30 million has been allocated for the construction of additional blocks, replacement blocks, and maintenance at six Tamil national-type schools (SJKT) across the nation. This initiative aims to provide a more comfortable and conducive learning environment for pupils.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Deputy Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan announced the decision while chairing a special meeting. The schools identified for these upgrades include SJKT Klebang in Perak, SJKT Ladang North Hummock in Selangor, SJKT Ladang Kulai Besar and SJKT Ladang Rini in Johor, SJKT YMHA in Perak, and SJKT Sungai Bakap in Penang.

Datuk Seri R. Ramanan stated that the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, had entrusted him on August 18, 2025, with overseeing and monitoring projects involving temples and schools for the Indian community. The special meeting focused on implementing the projects using the RM30 million financial allocation.

The meeting, attended by Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh and senior officials from the Ministry of Education, highlighted the Prime Minister's directive for prompt implementation of the projects. Ramanan mentioned that he also met with Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek to discuss the matter further, ensuring the MADANI Government's commitment to resolving the issue systematically for the benefit of the people.

Ramanan emphasized that the entire process, from tender offers to construction, would be closely monitored to ensure transparency. The Prime Minister directed that all projects must go through an open tender and be implemented immediately to provide a safe and conducive learning environment for children.

Future meetings will include engagement sessions with headmasters and the Boards of Governors (LPS) of the schools involved. This step is crucial to prevent misuse of funds and ensure that every cent of the allocation reaches its intended purpose. Ramanan highlighted that this effort is significant for the Indian community, demonstrating the MADANI Government's determination to ensure no segment of society is marginalised in the nation's development.
