RM5 Million Allocated to Boost Graduate Employability and Tackle Job Mismatch

Kuala lumpur: The Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) has allocated RM5 million through the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) to implement initiatives aimed at enhancing the employability of graduates and job seekers at public and private higher education institutions nationwide. Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan announced that this funding will also support the operation and enhancement of the MYFutureJobs Career Exploration Centre (MYCEC), a facility designed to improve self-awareness through gamified personality assessments.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the immersive hub, which utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) technology, aims to assist job seekers in better aligning their skills with suitable employment opportunities. Ramanan highlighted that nearly two million workers across the country are currently impacted by a talent mismatch. He emphasized the centre's role as a fully integrated system functioning as a one-stop centre, enabling job seekers to apply for positions that match their skills through AI. This technology helps identify the best career paths, whether in manufacturing, engineering, or high-skilled training.

At a press conference following the launch of 'The First Immersive MYFutureJobs Career Exploration Centre (MYCEC) in Malaysia,' Ramanan shared insights into the initiative. Also present were PERKESO chairman Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal and PERKESO group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Dr Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between PERKESO and RHB Bank to expand the program's reach, involving 618,000 RHB users, especially from RHB Islamic.

Ramanan noted that the initiative aligns with the positive development of Malaysia's labour market, with the unemployment rate currently at 2.9 per cent, the lowest in 11 years. He mentioned the possibility of establishing similar hubs in Pulau Pinang, Johor, and other states following the hub's success. Additionally, Ramanan stated that PERKESO has targeted 200,000 job placements annually since 2020, benefiting about 12,000 job seekers as of February this year. Last year, PERKESO recorded 208,000 job placements, and the database currently includes 3.1 million job seekers.
