Kuala lumpur: The retail price of RON97 remains at RM4.90 per litre, while unsubsidised RON95 and diesel in Peninsular Malaysia each rise by five sen for the period May 7 to 13.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) has announced that the retail price of unsubsidised RON95 is now set at RM4.02 per litre, up from RM3.97. Diesel prices in Peninsular Malaysia have also increased to RM5.17 per litre, compared to RM5.12 the previous week.
During the same period, the government is maintaining targeted subsidised prices for the public and specific sectors. This includes RON95 (BUDI95) at RM1.99 per litre, diesel in Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan at RM2.15 per litre, the Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS) at RM2.05 per litre, and the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) at RM2.15 per litre.
The MOF detailed that the price adjustment follows the Automatic Pricing Mechanism formula, which considers the average price of the previous week. The Ministry pointed out that petroleum prices are holding above USD100 per barrel due to ongoing conflicts in West Asia. This situation is creating global supply constraints for crude oil and petroleum products, which are exacerbated by damage to production and refining facilities in the region.
The MADANI Government urges the public to use fuel prudently to help maintain the nation's supply stability.
