Rubbish Lorry Hits Condominium Wall, Crushes Three Cars

Kuala lumpur: A rubbish lorry believed to have suffered brake failure lost control and crashed into a condominium boundary wall, crushing three cars at Jalan Pantai Murni 1, Pantai Hillpark, early today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) chief ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa stated that the lorry was traveling downhill along a straight, sloping road when the incident occurred at about 4.10 am. The lorry veered off the road after its brakes failed, before coming down on three parked cars in the area.

The lorry driver, a 41-year-old local man, suffered an injury to his left leg. The Kuala Lumpur JSPT immediately began efforts to locate the driver after receiving the report, as he was not present at the scene. He was located while receiving treatment at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, HUKM.

Mohd Zamzuri mentioned that two Bangladeshi workers, both around 25, were carrying out rubbish collection work in the area when the incident occurred, but neither was injured as they were on the road at the time. The lorry driver later presented himself at the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Police Station at 3.15 pm today to lodge a report on the incident.

A breathalyser test found no alcohol in the driver's system. The lorry will undergo further examination at Puspakom to determine the exact cause of the incident. The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving.
