Rumah Ngaji Programme Inspires Quranic Love and Community Unity

Kuala lumpur: The Rumah Ngaji programme, initiated by the Yayasan Warisan Ummah Ikhlas (YWUI), has evolved into a grassroots movement, dedicated to nurturing a love for the Quran as the foundation for personal and societal development. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, highlighted the programme's success over the past decade, noting the participation of numerous volunteers who devote their time to the Quran without financial reward.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Na'im commended all Rumah Ngaji activists across Malaysia, from various regions including Sabah and Sarawak, and those operating in educational institutions, mosques, and even personal spaces. He praised their commitment, stating, "Though their spaces may be small, their souls are great." His remarks were made at the closing ceremony of the Rumah Ngaji Malaysia 1.0 Convention at the Federal Territory Mosque.

Mohd Na'im emphasized the Quranic contemplation (tadabbur) approach introduced by YWUI, which encourages a deeper understanding and application of Quranic verses in daily life, beyond mere reading or translation.

The convention saw about 1,000 participants from across the country, arriving early to partake in scholarly discourse sessions. The event concluded with the announcement of Dr Sharifah Mastura Syed Mohamad as the Tokoh Rumah Ngaji 2025. Dr Sharifah Mastura, the promoter of Rumah Ngaji ALA Kubang Golok, Bachok, Kelantan, established the initiative in 2018 to provide free Quranic learning opportunities, particularly for the wives of local fishermen and farmers, thereby empowering them spiritually and educationally.

Sharifah Mastura expressed her gratitude upon being named Tokoh Rumah Ngaji 2025, recognizing it as an honor for all members of the Kelantan Rumah Ngaji Association. She noted the growing participation in the programme, aided by government support, which has encouraged more Malaysians to join the Rumah Ngaji movement.
