Kanowit: Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang has handed over cash assistance amounting to RM21,000 to 15 families from Rumah Paulus Yan, Sungai Bawan, Kanowit, who lost their homes after their longhouse was destroyed in a fire two days ago. He also provided essential items to the victims through the Kanowit Parliamentary Service Centre. Aaron visited the victims at the relief centre (PPS) at Dewan Datuk Aaron, Bawan.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Aaron, as the Kanowit elected representative, emphasized his understanding of the hardships and challenges facing the victims. Through the Kanowit Member of Parliament Service Centre, in collaboration with Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa (YSS), he handed over the aid to all the families affected by the fire. Aaron also appealed to the community to come forward to help the victims involved.

Aaron further mentioned that the families affected by the fire will build a 'dampa' (shack or hut) as a temporary home before constructing a new longhouse. "Until the 'dampa' is completed, all the families can stay at the PPS," he said.
