Kuala lumpur: The Sabah State Government is actively collaborating with the Finance Ministry (MOF) and pertinent federal agencies to refine the targeted diesel subsidy programme's implementation mechanism across the state. This initiative comes as a response to challenges encountered by various stakeholders following the programme's expansion to Sabah on July 1.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor emphasized the need for a strategic approach to address these issues. He announced a follow-up meeting scheduled for July 17, which will involve state government bodies, MOF Malaysia, and federal agencies. This meeting aims to scrutinize the existing concerns and develop suitable recommendations.
Hajiji further revealed that the State Secretary, Datuk Zainudin Aman, will chair the meeting to ensure comprehensive evaluation of operational improvements. The topic of targeted diesel subsidy implementation was a significant agenda in the recent State Cabinet meeting held on July 13.
The Chief Minister highlighted the state government's commitment to seriously considering all feedback, which has led to directives for relevant agencies to conduct an in-depth analysis of the socio-economic impacts at the grassroots level. The forthcoming federal-state discussions are expected to propose appropriate solutions and recommendations to facilitate a smoother transition for the sectors affected by the subsidy changes.
