Rembau: Barisan Nasional (BN) is set to defend all seats it previously won and aims to contest traditional seats that were earlier allocated to Bersatu in the last Sabah state election. BN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan confirmed that BN and Pakatan Harapan (PH) have reached an agreement, in principle, to collaborate for the upcoming state election.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamad Hasan expressed BN's intention to reclaim seats that were historically theirs but were given to Bersatu as part of a past cooperative effort. He highlighted a breach of trust in the previous allocation, stating, "In the previous Sabah election, many traditional BN seats were given to Bersatu in the spirit of cooperation. But we were backstabbed. We don't want this to happen again." His comments came during an event where he officiated the Rembau UMNO Division Women's, Youth, and Puteri Wings meetings.
In addressing current political tensions, particularly the incident involving UMNO Youth chief Dr. Muhamad Akmal Saleh and DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY) over the upside-down Jalur Gemilang flag, Mohamad urged for calm. He emphasized the importance of dialogue and finding solutions to preserve national harmony, considering Malaysia's multiracial and multireligious context.
