Sabah Electricity Worker Swept Away by Floodwaters Found Drowned

Keningau: A Sabah Electricity worker who was swept away by floodwaters in Sungai Nuntunan, Apin-Apin, Keningau last Tuesday was found drowned this evening.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sabah Fire and Rescue Department director Mohd Pisar Aziz confirmed that the body of the 35-year-old man was discovered by Team Galen Star in Sungai Kampung Liau Laut, Keningau at 6.18 pm. The fire and rescue team assisted in retrieving the victim, who will be handed over to the police for further action.

Earlier, today's search and rescue operations focused on the Kampung Linsudan area following the discovery of the victim's shoe along the village river. The distance from the location where the victim was reported missing to Kampung Linsudan is 21 kilometres.

Team Galen Star is a unit that assists the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department in search and rescue operations during water-related incidents. In the incident, three employees of the company were swept away by floodwaters while on their way to Kampung Nuntunan Apin-Apin, Keningau to carry out electricity supply restoration work. Two of them managed to save themselves, while one was carried away by the strong currents.

Meanwhile, Sabah Electricity, in a separate statement, confirmed that the worker was Masedeh Rosmin, 35, an employee based in Keningau. The company expressed its deepest sorrow over the loss and extended heartfelt condolences and sympathy to his family.

Sabah Electricity assured that all necessary support, including welfare assistance and emotional support, will be provided to his family. Masedeh's passing is deeply felt by the entire Sabah Electricity family. He will be remembered as a highly dedicated staff member in carrying out his duties.

The company also expressed its appreciation to the authorities and rescue teams involved in the operation, particularly Team Galen Star, the Royal Malaysia Police, the Fire and Rescue Department, the Malaysian Civil Defence Force, as well as colleagues who took part in the search efforts.
