SABAH KPDN TAKES ACTION ON 544 CASES INVOLVING SEIZURES OF RM5.18 MLN THIS YEAR

KOTA KINABALU, The Sabah branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has taken action on 544 cases involving various offences, resulting in RM5.18 million in seizures from January 1 to yesterday (June 15).

Its director, George Abas said that these actions were the result of inspections on 31,206 business premises, with fines amounting to RM62,300 and court penalties totaling RM20,000 imposed on those found guilty.

“During this period, Sabah KPDN also received 1,073 consumer complaints across various categories which were recorded in its eAduan system,” he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, he noted that inspections of raw goods and essential supplies at Pasar Besar Kota Kinabalu today found that supplies for the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration tomorrow are sufficient.

“The inspections focused on stalls selling vegetables, chicken, eggs, meat, grated coconut and coconut milk, which are among the essential items for the Aidiladha celebration,” he said.

t to arbitrarily increase the prices of goods and services without reasonable justification.

“KPDN will investigate every complaint received according to the laws enforced, and complaints regarding prices and controlled goods will be investigated within 24 hours,” he added.
