Sabah Pakatan Harapan Manifesto Launch Delayed Due to Translation Issues

Kota kinabalu: The Sabah Pakatan Harapan (PH) manifesto launch for the 17th state election, initially planned for tomorrow, has been rescheduled to Sunday. This delay is attributed to translation issues, as confirmed by Sabah DAP deputy chairman Datuk Chan Foong Hin.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Chan, who is also contesting for the Tanjung Aru state seat, received the information from Sabah PKR leadership council chairman Datuk Mustapha Sakmud. Chan explained, "I just got in touch with Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, he told me it has been postponed to this Sunday. Thursday is not available. This is what I was told just now, because there is a translation issue (of the manifesto leaflet)."

Chan, serving as the Deputy Minister of Plantations and Commodities, conveyed these details to reporters following a Used Cooking Oil Collection Awareness Briefing programme in Kampung Torong Logong, Pulau Gaya. Mustapha had previously announced that the manifesto would be unveiled on Thursday, focusing on a special fund for Sabah's residents and addressing fundamental state issues.

Chan emphasized the manifesto's practicality, stating it was designed to meet the people's basic needs without making unrealistic promises. He also addressed criticism regarding the cost of a new school complex project on Pulau Gaya, asserting that education should not be monetarily assessed and rejecting claims of election motivations.

Highlighting the government's responsibility, Chan remarked, "With or without me, the project is still going on. It's just that I knew the implementation plan in advance because I am in the government administration. As the government, we cannot deny the right of students access to the education. Education is for all, it's priceless."

The Election Commission has scheduled the polling day for the 17th Sabah state election on November 29, with early voting set for November 25.
