Sabah: Sabah Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) today organized a mini convention aimed at strengthening the party's grassroots machinery in preparation for the upcoming 16th General Election (GE16). Its chairman, Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, stated that the event also served as a platform to gather party leaders and boost the morale of its approximately 150,000 members. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Mustapha Sakmud highlighted the party's plan to hold annual general meetings at each division following the mini convention, culminating in the organization of the party congress in June. The convention and the state-level launching of the Annual General Meetings of the divisions were officiated by PKR president and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Mustapha, who also serves as Minister in the Prime Minister's Department for Sabah and Sarawak Affairs, mentioned that Anwar emphasized the importance of the party machinery having a solid understanding of critical issues related to Sabah. This includes the Mala ysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and the state's 40 percent revenue entitlement, to ensure party members can provide clear explanations to the people. In response to questions about his political ambitions, Mustapha expressed his readiness to contest the Sepanggar parliamentary seat in GE16. He stated that if given approval by the party leadership, he is prepared to run again, emphasizing that the ultimate decision rests with the people.
