Kota kinabalu: Sabah is set to introduce a new property enactment aimed at speeding up land transactions, as the current legislations have become outdated over the decades. Chief Minister Hajiji Noor announced the upcoming changes, emphasizing the need for a more efficient process for buyers and landowners to manage their properties.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Hajiji made these remarks during a press conference following the handover ceremony of 1Borneo subsidiary titles to the United Sabah Islamic Association (USIA) by the State Lands and Surveys Department, held at Menara Kinabalu. In his speech, Hajiji expressed his gratitude for the completion of the long-awaited distribution of 1,974 subsidiary titles for shop units and residences at 1Borneo.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the handover is a testament to the GRS government's dedication to speeding up the issuance of strata titles, even as some technical issues remain unresolved. "It clearly shows that the government, through the Lands and Surveys Department, has done its best to assist USIA as well as property owners and buyers at 1Borneo," he stated.
Hajiji further noted that this initiative is part of the state government's ongoing efforts to address land and property-related challenges. This includes proposing the new enactment to facilitate smoother transactions between developers and property owners.
The 1Borneo Hypermall project encompasses four residential blocks with 910 strata titles, 21 titles for 2,300 covered parking bays, and 1,043 commercial titles, which include four hotels with a total of 929 rooms.
