Sabah Polls Conducted With Full Integrity, Transparency, Says EC

Kuala lumpur: The Election Commission (EC) has asserted that the entire process surrounding the 17th Sabah State Election, including voting, counting, tabulation, and result announcements, was executed with complete integrity and transparency. This statement was made in light of recent claims on social media suggesting otherwise.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, EC secretary Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus addressed these concerns by highlighting that the processes were closely monitored by political parties, observer groups, and appointed individuals involved in the polls. His remarks were aimed at countering the allegations that have been circulating online, which he stated misrepresented the election process and questioned the transparency of the EC's management of the Sabah polls.

Khairul Shahril emphasized that any disputes concerning the election process or its outcomes should be formally submitted through an election petition within 21 days from the gazetted date of the results. He also expressed gratitude to the voters in Sabah for participating in the election on November 29, which enabled the returning officers to declare the results officially.

Furthermore, Khairul Shahril extended appreciation to government agencies, security forces, local authorities, Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB), media practitioners, and all parties involved in facilitating the smooth execution of the election.
