Segama: Pakatan Harapan (PH) is adopting a mature, fact-based campaigning strategy in the upcoming 17th Sabah state election, distancing itself from slanderous politicking. PH candidate for the Segama state seat, Romansa Lamin, emphasized that this approach allows voters to evaluate candidates on their capabilities, arguments, manifesto, and developmental vision.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Romansa Lamin highlighted that PH's re-entry into the constituency after 13 years offers constituents a renewed opportunity to elect a representative closely connected to the local community. This connection would enable effective collaboration with both Federal and state governments, ensuring that local voices are heard and acted upon.
Romansa emphasized the necessity for the elected candidate to genuinely represent the area's needs, particularly addressing pressing issues such as the condition of water villages, which require urgent infrastructural attention. He pointed out that such representation is crucial for conveying local needs directly to the party president and federal leadership.
He further stressed that a harmonious relationship between state and federal governments would facilitate transparent and responsible implementation of allocations and projects. "The government can announce projects and allocations, but their implementation is what truly matters," he remarked, echoing Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's commitment to ensuring public funds are utilized responsibly.
Addressing concerns about his origins, Romansa clarified, "I was born in Tawau, but my ancestors are from Segama. I've served over 30 years in Lahad Datu, and Segama holds a special place in my heart. I am committed to serving the people here."
As of Nov 29, a total of 29,840 voters are expected to cast their votes in Segama, with early voting scheduled for Nov 25.
