Kampung terentang: The Masjid Kariah Kampung Terentang, inaugurated by former Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak in 1962, is on track for a renovation that will be finished by the end of this year, expanding its capacity to accommodate up to 700 congregants. The renovation is part of a broader initiative aimed at enhancing facilities and infrastructure within the community.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the renovation of the 63-year-old mosque is a key component of the Satu Pemimpin Satu Kampung (One Leader One Village) (Santuni MADANI) initiative led by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki revealed that the mosque renovation project will cost RM2.2 million, with an additional RM400,000 allocated for the construction of a new community hall in Kampung Terentang.
Azam explained that the mosque should be ready for use next year, allowing residents to perform Tarawih and Aidilfitri prayers. The new community hall is intended to replace an aging structure that was in disrepair. He made these remarks while officiating the Kampung Terentang community hall as part of the Santuni MADANI programme.
A native of Kampung Terentang, Azam highlighted that the Santuni MADANI programme involves department heads working to improve infrastructure in their respective villages. This effort aims to strengthen the relationship between civil servants and the local community.
Additionally, Azam mentioned that Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Senawang has been selected for the Sekolah Angkat MADANI (MADANI Adopted School) initiative, with MACC providing 16 air-conditioning units valued at RM100,000. The MACC is also extending its support to Kampung Sungai Buah in Dengkil, Selangor, as well as other schools under the Sekolah Angkat MADANI project, including Sekolah Kebangsaan Padang Lebar and SMK King George V.
In addition to infrastructure upgrades, Azam noted that MACC has also provided donations to asnaf and other needy groups within the community.
