Sapura Energy Secures Lucrative Contracts in Thailand Worth Over RM500 Million

Bangkok: Sapura Energy Bhd (SEB) has secured two significant contracts from its long-term clients in Thailand, with a total value surpassing RM500 million.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, these contracts further solidify SEB's enduring collaboration with its Thai clients, bolstered by the company's proven success in similar offshore projects within the region.

SEB group chief executive officer Muhammad Zamri Jusoh emphasized that these contract awards align with SEB's strategic focus on projects that match the group's risk tolerance, core strengths, and vessel deployment capabilities. He noted that the contracts were awarded to Sapura Energy's wholly owned subsidiary, Sapura Energy (Thailand) Ltd (SETH), specifically for an installation and removal campaign alongside subsea inspection, repair, and maintenance (IRM) services.

The installation and removal contract was granted by Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production Ltd and Chevron Offshore (Thailand) Ltd, with an expected completion date set for the end of 2026. This offshore campaign will be managed by SEB's engineering and construction team, highlighting the company's robust operational framework.

For the subsea IRM services, SEB received service orders from PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Ltd (PTTEP), which involve saturation diving operations at offshore petroleum blocks in the Gulf of Thailand, particularly the G1/61 and G2/61 projects. These operations will be conducted by SEB's operations and maintenance business segment, utilizing the dedicated subsea construction vessel, Sapura Constructor, which is equipped to accommodate 120 personnel and support up to 15 divers.

The subsea IRM operations commenced in the second quarter of 2025, with SEB already engaging in similar work for PTTEP in Malaysia, demonstrating the company's extensive expertise and capability in the subsea domain.
