Sarawak: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will offer a 50 per cent discount on traffic summonses at counters opened throughout Sarawak in conjunction with the 68th National Day celebrations. Sarawak deputy chief commissioner Saifullizan Ishak announced that the discounts are applicable at all COPS district traffic investigation and enforcement division counters, with payment options available in cash, debit, and credit cards.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the 50 per cent discount applies to all traffic summonses that are compoundable under the Road Transport (Compounding of Offences) Rules 2003. The initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on the public and encourage the settlement of outstanding summonses. The counters will operate from August 26 to 28 in various locations, including Kuching, Padawan, Kota Samarahan, and several other districts across Sarawak.
Saifullizan further clarified that there are 10 offences not eligible for the discount. These include traffic accidents, offences involving trials, dangerous overtaking, using the emergency lane, running red traffic lights, overtaking in double line areas, modifying exhausts, and summonses issued under Op Selamat.
