Kuala lumpur: Sarawak will share its experience in developing renewable energy and semiconductor industries at the 47th ASEAN Summit, scheduled to be held from Oct 26 to 28 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg stated that these two key sectors, which are the focus of the state's development agenda, could further strengthen Sarawak's economic growth in line with the green economy and emerging technology agenda.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Abang Johari emphasized the balanced approach adopted by Sarawak between technology and human capabilities. He highlighted the importance of education in chip design, especially as artificial intelligence is highly dependent on chip functionality, indicating a strategic focus in this area.
In another development, Abang Johari expressed his welcome to United States President Donald Trump at the ASEAN Summit, hoping for an opportunity for Trump to gain a deeper understanding of the geopolitics of the Asia-Pacific region. He also addressed the impact of tariff policies implemented by the Trump administration, which have affected the investment climate, and expressed hope for constructive discussions led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to address the regional economic challenges arising from these policies.
