Kapit: Bumiputera women entrepreneurs in Sarawak continue to be empowered through various initiatives by Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), including financing facilities, business premises, and training programmes. Deputy Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Rubiah Wang announced the allocation of RM33 million this year to support 1,156 entrepreneurs in Sarawak, highlighting the significant support provided to women entrepreneurs.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, as of July 2025, a total of 243 entrepreneurs have received financing amounting to RM30.1 million, with 92 women entrepreneurs benefiting from RM6.8 million. At a recent event, nine women entrepreneurs in Kapit received financing under several MARA schemes totaling RM377,700. This reflects MARA's commitment to uplifting women entrepreneurs in the region.

Besides financial assistance, MARA has offered 383 business premises in Sarawak, boasting a 96% occupancy rate by July. This includes 158 women entrepreneurs whose businesses have generated sales totaling RM53.4 million and created 1,045 job opportunities. MARA's efforts extend beyond financial aid, encompassing business digitalization initiatives with a budget of RM1.2 million through various programs, benefiting 398 entrepreneurs with grants worth RM875,000.

Rubiah emphasized the evolving role of women in society, stating that their influence extends beyond traditional roles into critical areas of national economic development. This aligns with the MARA Community Women Empowerment Action Plan 2025-2030, which outlines 17 strategic initiatives focusing on skills training, financing, and digital marketing. She expressed hope that the Women Empowerment Programme would bridge MARA's initiatives with the community, fostering greater support for Bumiputera women entrepreneurs in Sarawak.
