Johor bahru: Scanfil, Europe's largest listed electronics manufacturing company, has invested RM15.8 million to expand and modernise its SRX Global (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd facility in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the upgrade will boost production capacity by nearly 50 per cent, reinforcing Johor Bahru's role as a strategic electronics hub in Asia. The investment strengthens Scanfil's Asia Pacific operations, which also include SRX Global facilities in Melbourne, Australia. Before this expansion, the Malaysian facility operated four automated surface-mount technology (SMT) lines with 170 employees, and the expansion will enable the current workforce to rise with demand.
The production area will increase by about 50 per cent, offering integrated one-stop manufacturing that covers electronics assembly and complex box build. The facility features a cutting-edge design aligned with the SRX Global and Scanfil Dream Factory programme, focusing on driving data integration, process optimisation, and advanced automation. The investment will also enhance SRX Global's operations significantly.
