Kuala lumpur: The Scouts Association of Malaysia (PPM) is implementing a brand refresh initiative through the introduction of a new logo and uniform to ensure the movement remains relevant and competitive in facing current challenges. National Chief Scout, Maj Gen (Retd) Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Zin Bidin stated that the new logo retains classic elements of the scouting world, enhanced with modern colors and shapes representing the dynamics of the younger generation.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr. Mohd Zin emphasized during an appearance on Bernama TV's Apa Khabar Malaysia programme that the new logo serves as more than just an identifier, but as a reflection of PPM's aspirations to stay relevant within the community and globally. The uniform design has been updated from the grey color used for over 70 years to emerald sea for shirts and aspen green for trousers, featuring a neater cut and outdoor activity-friendly fabric.
Dr. Mohd Zin noted that the new uniform colors provide an exclusive and professional identity while deterring the misuse of old colors sold on the black market. He highlighted that the uniform is practical for camping, expeditions, and community service, fostering pride and discipline among more than 600,000 Scout members nationwide.
He further explained that the brand refresh is a crucial strategy to enhance the corporate image and credibility of the organization, aiming to attract the younger generation while preserving traditional values. The initiative is inspired by the World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM), which has undertaken a comprehensive brand refresh to promote Scouting as a leading global youth movement with a modern, bold, inclusive, and digital-friendly visual identity.
