Sarawak: Fans of local rock music in Borneo are set to be thrilled by Konsert Fenomena Samurai, which will bring together two legendary bands, Search and XPDC, on December 13 at the Sarawak Stadium here. Show organiser Ikhram Zainuddin, or better known as Atom, said the event, which is scheduled to last for four hours, will provide an extraordinary experience for rock music fans, especially in Sarawak.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the concert will feature members of XPDC as well as a former Search vocalist who will be announced soon. Atom mentioned that although some band members are currently not in the best of health, there is hope for their recovery to deliver an outstanding performance on stage. The announcement was made at a press conference attended by Sarawak Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, who also holds the position of State Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Minister.
Atom revealed that the concert promises special segments that will unite the two groups on the same stage, potentially including a 'battle' performance. Besides the main show, various interactive activities will be available through the organiser's official social media platforms, such as quizzes offering free tickets. Additionally, two exclusive Fender guitars will be given to lucky fans in Sarawak as a token of appreciation.
To provide more fans the opportunity to attend, both bands will spend a week in Sarawak starting today to promote the concert and extend the early bird ticket promotion period at reasonable prices. Meanwhile, Abdul Karim expressed the state government's support for the organisers' efforts to bring Malaysia's legendary rock bands to the Land of the Hornbills. He noted the concert's potential to attract visitors from regions such as Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore, and Sabah, thereby positively impacting the tourism industry through hotel bookings, food, transportation, and other services.
The Konsert Fenomena Samurai will showcase XPDC with Izo, Lola, Eddie, Arif, and Mamu, while Search will perform with Din and Kid. Tickets are available for purchase at prices ranging from RM90 to RM359 through fenomenasamurai.ubertickets.asia.
