Kuala lumpur: A security guard has been sentenced to jail for the possession of offensive weapons in public.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Judge Noorhisham Mohd Jaafar issued the sentence to Ahmad Noor Abdullah, aged 39, after he pleaded guilty to the offense. Ahmad Noor is required to begin serving the sentence from the date of his arrest.
Ahmad Noor was charged under Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958. The charge was due to his possession of a samurai sword and a knife found in a vehicle parked in front of a convenience store on Jalan Ban Hock at approximately 6:45 am last Saturday.
The facts of the case revealed that the weapons were discovered during a police inspection of the suspicious-looking vehicle. The knife was located in the storage compartment between the front seats, while the samurai sword was positioned on top of the rear seat.
The prosecution in the case was led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Adriana Maisarah Mohd Farid. Ahmad Noor Abdullah was unrepresented during the proceedings.
