Kelantan: A total of 300 houses belonging to the poor in Kelantan that are dilapidated and damaged are being repaired under the Sejahtera MADANI Programme, involving an allocation of RM4.5 million. Director at the Kelantan Federal Development Office, Jasri Kasim, said that more than 50 houses have already been repaired in the state, while another 12 houses in Pasir Mas are being repaired.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the programme anticipates the completion of all 300 houses before the end of this year, with repairs carried out through gotong-royong involving the local community and non-governmental organisations (NGOs). Pasir Mas recorded the highest number of applications with 97 recipients, followed by Tanah Merah and Machang.
The assistance focuses on minor repairs, such as replacing leaky roofs, and the programme is part of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's initiative to eradicate poverty and improve the well-being of the people. Based on eKasih data, Kelantan recorded 45,849 poor and hard-core poor household heads (KIR) as of last October 27, a decrease of 12,969 compared to 58,818 KIR at the end of December last year.
Of that total, 6,059 poor and hardcore poor KIR were recorded in Pasir Mas, compared to 7,474 KIR at the end of 2024. Meanwhile, Jasri said that his office had also begun repairing 50 houses of RELA members through the RELA MADANI Teduhan Kasih Programme, involving an allocation of RM250,000.
