Selangor Aims for 20,000 Visitors at New Village Festival 2026

Klang: The Selangor government aims to attract 20,000 visitors to the two-day Selangor New Village Festival 2026, 'Jom Thit Tho Lah!', which will kick off on January 24 next year, announced State Local Government and Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Ng Suee Lim. The festival, organized in collaboration with Tourism Selangor, will take place at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Pandamaran B in Klang and is expected to draw tourists from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, as well as domestic visitors.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the festival aims to promote the new village legacy in Selangor, blending cultural and tourism elements with an engaging, play-based experience. Ng emphasized that the event will feature the 'Memang Seronok' (Absolutely Fun) concept across six main zones: Jom Jalan, Jom Makan, Jom Beli, Jom Main, Jom Snap Bersama, and Jom Reka, to celebrate the unique identities of Selangor's 77 new village communities.

Ng highlighted that the festival's goal is to immerse visitors in the village life through a five-senses experience, encouraging them to rediscover and appreciate local culture and identity. With a curatorial approach of entering the village to experience it firsthand, the festival offers visitors the opportunity to participate, capture, and take home authentic cultural experiences. These details were shared during a press conference at the lobby of Wisma Negeri Selangor, where Tourism Selangor chief executive officer Chua Yee Ling was also present.

Ng added that the festival will also feature exclusive promotions from travel agencies in support of the Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
