Selangor: The Selangor government is optimistic about meeting its target of eight million tourists for Visit Selangor Year (VSY) 2025, supported by a strong performance from January to September that saw 6.4 million visitor arrivals.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Ng Sue Lim, the Selangor Local Government and Tourism Exco, stated that Tourism Selangor plans to enhance the promotion of ecotourism, cruise tourism, and medical tourism products in the remaining period before the end of 2025. The efforts aim to boost the current 80% achievement towards the target, which has already generated RM11.4 billion in tourism receipts.

At the Selangor Kan Ada! Cruise Trip 2025 event, Ng highlighted the significant contribution of cruise tourism, launched in November, as a catalyst for increasing visitor numbers. The initiative aims to transform Port Klang into not just a port of call but also a homeport, impacting local hotel, food, and tourism sectors economically.

Ng also announced plans to focus on arts and cultural tourism in preparation for Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026). Collaborations with the Housing and Culture Committee and the Selangor Malay Custom and Heritage Corporation (PADAT) are set to enrich Selangor's cultural offerings, including the development of a comprehensive cultural village to attract more tourists.
