Kuala lumpur: Several Selangor state executive councillors today called on the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to take firm action against a social media post insulting the Sultan of Selangor.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the councillors described the act as excessive, disrespectful, and completely unacceptable in a country founded on the Constitution and the Rukun Negara. State Housing and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Borhan Aman Shah emphasized that the act was a serious insult to the institution of the Malay Rulers, which is a pillar of the nation's stability and harmony. He insisted that those involved must not be shielded, regardless of their background or reasons given.
State Islamic Affairs and Cultural Innovation Committee chairman Mohammad Fahmi Ngah expressed concerns about the potential public tension caused by an edited image deemed insulting and linked to the Sultan of Selangor. He urged PDRM to investigate and take action against those involved, while calling on MCMC to monitor, block, and remove such offensive content.
The post was also condemned by other committee chairmen, including Ng Sze Han from the Investment, Trade and Mobility Committee, Mohd Najwan Halimi from the Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship Committee, Datuk Rizam Ismail from the Rural Development, Unity and Consumer Affairs Committee, and V. Papparaidu from the Human Resources and Poverty Eradication Committee.
