Selangor Government to Provide School Assistance to Children of GISBH Members

Selangor: The Selangor government will provide school assistance to the children of GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH) members if they are enrolled in government schools, said state Islamic Affairs and Innovation Committee chairman Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah. He stated that the initiative aims to support the children who have not received formal education.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, there has been a request from the Selangor Islamic Religious Council for the 200 children released to be required to enrol in national schools. Dr Mohammad Fahmi added that each child will receive the assistance. Although there is no specific allocation for the assistance, offers have been received from contributors wishing to help.

Furthermore, Mohammad Fahmi mentioned that the state government has proposed the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) provide monthly financial aid from the riqab fund to the children and former members of GISBH to attend rehabilitation programmes. He emphasized that a one-off payment might not encourage attendance at these programmes.

At the opening ceremony of LZS's new headquarters on January 23, Selangor Sultan, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, urged LZS to distribute zakat to eligible recipients, including those undergoing faith rehabilitation programmes due to their involvement in deviant teachings such as GISBH.
