Selangor Police Mobilise 542 Personnel To Ensure Smooth Traffic Ahead Of Aidilfitri

Selangor: A total of 542 officers and police personnel from the Selangor Contingent have been deployed to the field to ensure smooth traffic flow and the safety of road users throughout the state in conjunction with Aidilfitri this week.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar stated that the deployment includes 41 officers and 501 personnel who will be on duty throughout the festive season to ensure the success of Op Selamat 26 and Op Lancar. This effort is further supported by logistical assets, including 70 patrol cars (MPVs) and 148 Motorcycle Patrol Units.

Close monitoring will be conducted at 23 strategic locations across 16 districts to enforce speed limits, with special attention given to 53 hotspots and 34 blackspots identified for potential traffic issues. Datuk Shazeli Kahar made these remarks during a press conference held after the Road Safety Campaign and Advocacy in Conjunction with Aidilfitri at PJS 2 Toll Plaza.

Selangor Road Transport Department director Azrin Borhan was also present at the event. Shazeli noted that proactive measures have been taken by initiating Op Lancar operations early, from March 18 to March 29, to address major congestion points throughout Selangor.

Furthermore, Shazeli cautioned drivers of goods vehicles about the driving ban in effect from March 19 to 20 and March 28 to 29. Non-compliance with this ban could lead to fines of up to RM2,000, though exceptions are granted for heavy machinery and cranes performing emergency work.

For emergency assistance or to report traffic incidents, the public is advised to contact the Selangor JSPT Operations Room at 03-5510 0559 or the Selangor CCC at 03-5514 5206.
