Selangor: Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has expressed his gratitude to the rakyat for their wishes and prayers on his 80th birthday, and he is eagerly anticipating the 25th anniversary of his reign as the Sultan of Selangor next year.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, His Royal Highness emphasized that these milestones are shared with the people of Selangor, who have supported him through various periods of progress and challenge. He conveyed his heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the people for their contributions to building the state into its current form.

Reflecting on his reign, Sultan Sharafuddin noted the growth of Selangor into a vibrant and prosperous state, home to a diverse population. He highlighted that the state's strength lies in its diversity, which must be maintained through values of respect, moderation, and mutual understanding. The Sultan reminded his subjects that harmony and unity require patience, tolerance, and a sincere desire for peaceful coexistence.

Sultan Sharafuddin further expressed his wish for Selangor to reject extremism, hate speech, and division, advocating for knowledge, compassion, and integrity as guiding principles. He mentioned that this would be the best birthday gift for him. The Sultan also expressed his hopes for Selangor to continue prospering under fairness, justice, and good governance.

The year has been particularly memorable for Sultan Sharafuddin due to the successful wedding reception of Raja Muda Tengku Amir Shah and Datin Paduka Seri Afzaa Fadini Abdul Aziz. He extended his thanks to the people of Selangor for their blessings and well-wishes for the couple.
