Selangor: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, and the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, graced the Closing Ceremony of the Selangor State-Level Quran Recitation and Memorisation Competition 1447H/2026 here today. Their Royal Highnesses were received upon arrival at the lecture hall of the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque by Selangor State Secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin and Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) director Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Shahzihan announced that members of the Selangor al-Quran Literacy Academy (ALAS) board had agreed to provide a special monthly allowance incentive to the champions of the recitation and memorisation events at the national-level competition to be held in April in Terengganu. This allowance will be provided for eight months, with RM800 allocated for the Qari (male reciter) or Qariah (female reciter) champions, while the male and female Hafazan (memorisation) champions will receive RM300 for Level 1, RM400 for Level 2, and RM500 for Level 3.
Selangor participants who emerge as Qari and Qariah champions, as well as Hafazan champions in all categories at the national level, will begin receiving the allowance from May to December 2026. These allocations are specially provided by ALAS.
At the same ceremony, Sultan Sharafuddin presented prizes to the Overall Best Tilawah al-Quran Participant and the Overall Best Hafazan al-Quran Participant, namely Muhammad Isyraq Shahruddin and Ahmad Faris Iqbal Mohd Roslan, respectively. Both winners took home gold coins worth RM10,000, along with an additional 0.5 gram of gold sponsored by a private company.
