Selangor’s Financial Health Steady Amid Global Supply Challenges

Selangor: Selangor's financial position remains robust despite the global economic uncertainties triggered by the ongoing supply crisis and fluctuations in world markets. Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari affirmed that the state government sees no need for emergency measures as revenue collection continues to be on a positive trajectory.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the state has collected RM1.6 billion in revenue as of May, progressing towards this year's target of RM2.8 billion. The current trend in revenue collection reflects a positive development, indicating no immediate cause for alarm. Amirudin emphasized that while they have not yet activated any 'panic button', they are diligently monitoring the situation on a weekly and monthly basis.

Furthermore, Amirudin highlighted that Selangor recorded a RM300 million surplus against the total expenditure, attributed to the state government's savings strategy. Despite this year's financial standing not being as strong as the previous year, confidence remains high in meeting the set revenue target, bolstered by a solid reserve collection.

Amirudin outlined ongoing efforts to bolster the state's financial health, including land disposal processes, modifications to land conditions for industrial use, and attracting new investments into Selangor. He acknowledged that the full impact of the global economic uncertainties might unfold in the coming months, prompting the state government to adopt proactive measures to minimize adverse effects on the populace and the economic sector.
