Johor bahru: Seven health facility development and improvement projects, with a total value of RM1.139 billion, are being implemented at Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA), here to further improve the quality of the hospital's services.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir highlighted that among the projects is the upgrading of the main electricity supply and electrical and mechanical systems, valued at RM159 million, which has achieved a physical progress of 76.49 percent. He also noted the construction of the Day Care Centre (ACC) including multi-storey parking and the HSA Specialist Clinic Complex Phase 1 and Phase 2, with a total value of RM877.54 million, is underway.
"The details (implementation period of all projects) vary and of course our challenge is to ensure that their implementation does not cause significant disruption to hospital services," Akmal Nasrullah stated during a press conference after inspecting the development projects at HSA in conjunction with a working visit to Johor.
Akmal Nasrullah further mentioned that the construction of the ACC, including the multi-storey parking and the Specialist Clinic Complex, would significantly increase the hospital's service capacity. "The Letter of Acceptance for (the appointment of contractors) for the project (ACC, multi-storey car park and Specialist Clinic Complex) is targeted for February next year," he added.
In addition, three new operating rooms are set to be built at the hospital, increasing the number of operating rooms from the existing 12 to a total of 15.
Earlier, Akmal Nasrullah emphasized that his official working visit to Johor aimed to assess the progress of major development projects and to strengthen coordination between ministries and implementing agencies. He noted that a total of 613 development programmes and projects worth RM56.12 billion have been and are being implemented in Johor since 2000 until this year, comprising 154 new projects and 459 extension projects.
"As of (the beginning of the year until) July 27, RM2.5 billion or 50.51 percent of the RM4.95 billion allocation for this year has been spent," he mentioned, affirming that his ministry's priority is to ensure the smooth completion of all development projects and facilities for the benefit of the people.
