Seven UiTM Students Still Hospitalised, All Outdoor KKEC 2026 Activities Cancelled

Kuala lumpur: Seven Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) students are still receiving treatment and undergoing medical monitoring following a heat-related incident while taking part in an endurance event in Pahang on Friday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, UiTM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Shahrin Sahib @ Sahibuddin stated that the university management is focusing on the health and welfare of the affected students, who are being treated at Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital (HOSHAS) in Temerloh and Jengka Hospital. Liya Zafirah Muhammad from the Perak branch remains in the intensive care unit (ICU) at HOSHAS, while Meor Aqil Wildan from the Perlis branch is also under close monitoring. Other students at Jengka Hospital include Nur Nabihah Musyidah Md Nasri, Nur Alia Farhana Abdul Fattah, Muhamad Adam Azfar Suzaini, Muhammad Anas Shahrul Nizat, and Izzharith Zafran Muhammad Zulkarnain.

The university is maintaining close communication with the hospitals and the families to provide updates on the students' health. Following the incident, the university administration decided to cancel all Komander Kesatria Endurance Challenge (KKEC) 2026 competitions involving outdoor activities that were scheduled for today. The university is cooperating with authorities to assist with investigations and is assessing safety procedures, health screening, risk management, and emergency response measures for the programme.

Support, including logistics, transportation, and management assistance, has been mobilised to ease the burden on the victims' families. The university management has instructed UiTM deputy vice-chancellor (Student Affairs) Prof Dr Mohd Sazili Shahibi to directly monitor the welfare of the affected students. Additionally, the university's top management, along with UiTM Pahang branch Rector Prof Dr Azhan Hashim @ Ismail, paid their respects to the student who died in the incident.

Shahrin urged the public to respect the privacy of the students' families and refrain from spreading unverified information. A 21-year-old KKEC 2026 participant from UiTM Negeri Sembilan, Seremban Campus, Fadhlan Fakhry Solana Mohd Fellimal, collapsed during the event on September 4. He was treated in the ICU at HOSHAS and was pronounced dead at around 2 pm yesterday. Fadhlan Fakhry Solana was the second of four siblings and was buried at the Elmina Muslim Cemetery in Denai Alam today.
