S’gor Executive Councillors and Officers Mobilized to Assist Flood Victims

Shah alam: All Selangor state executive councillors and government officers have been instructed to go to the ground and attend to victims affected by the floods following the heavy rain that has hit the state since yesterday, says Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari. He said the state government was currently updating developments and monitoring the flood situation in the state.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Social Welfare Department's (JKM) Info Bencana portal reported that as of 1 pm today, five relief centres had been opened in four districts, housing 110 victims from 30 families. The centres comprise Dewan Sri Sekinchan and Dewan Sri Bernam in Sabak Bernam, the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) Service Centre in Kampung Jaya Setia, Bestari Jaya, SK Sungai Serai in Hulu Langat, and Masjid Al Falah Kampung Budiman in Shah Alam.

Amirudin commented on the flood situation in Selangor after the Launch of the Selangor Creative Economy Action Plan 2025-2035 at the foyer of the Selangor State Secretariat building. He stated that the state is closely monitoring the water levels at the state's dams to ensure they remain under control. The levels are currently stable, and further reports are awaited before instructing all relevant officers and exco members to assist the victims after the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting ends.

Meanwhile, the state government is expected to issue a statement later today on follow-up measures to address the floods. This comes after media reports highlighted the opening of five relief centres in response to the continuous rain since the previous evening.
