Selangor: The Selangor government has urged non-pensioned Armed Forces and police veterans to check their eligibility for the 2026 Warriors' Day's Jom Shopping vouchers to ensure they do not miss out on the RM200 benefit, which expires on Aug 31.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Human Resources and Poverty Eradication Committee chairman V. Papparaidu noted that the number of claims remained low since the initiative was launched on July 29, with only about 500 claims made out of the 8,391 non-pensioned armed forces and police veterans listed as eligible.

Papparaidu urged these veterans to verify their eligibility with their respective State Legislative Assembly service centres, highlighting that many had changed their contact details or relocated. To address this, the requirements have been relaxed to allow representatives or next-of-kin to claim the vouchers on behalf of the veterans.

He further clarified that no application was necessary for claiming the vouchers, as recipients were pre-selected based on lists from the Department of Veterans Affairs (JHEV) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), which were reviewed by the Selangor Economic Planning Unit (UPEN) and validated by the respective service centres.

The vouchers, backed by an RM1.7 million allocation, are distributed through service centres and can be used at participating supermarkets for purchasing approved daily necessities, excluding cigarettes and alcoholic beverages. Papparaidu emphasized that this initiative aims to ease veterans' daily expenses and demonstrate the state government's appreciation and commitment to their welfare.
