Shafiq Ammar’s Brace Inspires Young Tigers To 4-2 Win Over Bangladesh

Moqi: The national men's junior hockey team continued their impressive run in the 2026 Junior Asia Cup campaign in Moqi, China, after defeating Bangladesh 4-2 today. In the match at the Moqi Training Base, the Young Tigers took 21 minutes to open the scoring, with G. Dheeressh converting a penalty corner before Shelston Silverius doubled Malaysia's advantage two minutes later.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Bangladesh then fought back to level the score, with Md Abdullah scoring from a field goal in the 24th minute before Hassan Mahadey added another in the 33rd minute. Shafiq Ammar Fahmi Suzaini, however, put a smile on coach Nor Saiful Zaini Nasiruddin's face after scoring two field goals in the 48th and 51st minutes to seal Malaysia's 4-2 victory.

Yesterday, Malaysia opened the campaign by thrashing Kazakhstan 8-0. Malaysia will face three-time champions Pakistan on Sept 8 before concluding their group campaign against hosts China on Sept 9. Only the top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.
