Kulai: Sharing food among people of different ethnic backgrounds fosters unity without creating awkwardness, said Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching. She said this was evident during the recent National Day celebration organised by the Taman Desa Kulai Neighbourhood Watch (KRT) in Johor, which she attended.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Teo expressed her delight at the event, noting the opportunity to taste dishes prepared by people of various ethnicities personally. "The sincerity and effort of the local residents could be felt in every dish," she mentioned in a Facebook post today.

Teo, who is also the Kulai Member of Parliament, highlighted the stark contrast between the harmonious atmosphere of the gathering and the extremist sentiments that often flood cyberspace. "Seeing neighbours from diverse backgrounds sitting together, sharing a meal and chatting casually, stepping away from the noise and polarisation of the virtual world, is the truest and most tangible reflection of Malaysia's harmony," she added.
