Kota kinabalu: Shopee Rai Lokal Jelajah Komuniti, an initiative by Shopee Malaysia, aims to equip rural and semi-urban communities with practical digital skills and has recently made its stop in Sabah. Launched as part of the National Consumers Consultative Council's Semarak Konsumerisme Programme in Papar, the event was attended by Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Shopee highlighted that the programme, now in its seventh year, has supported hundreds of thousands of sellers and aspiring entrepreneurs across Malaysia, with a commitment to uplifting local communities. This year's Jelajah Komuniti edition plans to reach even more participants through expanded offline and online training across Malaysia, aiming to help Malaysians grow their businesses and seize new opportunities in the digital economy.
The statement quoted Armizan saying that the government welcomes such programmes, which align with the goal of strengthening digital participation among communities. Empowering rural entrepreneurs and consumers with digital skills is seen as essential for building an inclusive and sustainable economy, ensuring more Malaysians benefit from the opportunities of the digital era.
Shopee emphasized that the programme focuses on community-driven, hands-on guidance, helping participants set up their Shopee stores and begin selling with ease and confidence. The training modules cover areas like product listing management, customer engagement, and the use of digital tools such as AI-powered smart selling features and real-time analytics, aiming to build a strong online presence for sustainable business growth.
Country Director of Shopee Malaysia, Saovanee Chan-Somchit, stated that Shopee is committed to making digital education accessible to everyone, particularly in underserved areas. By empowering small businesses and local entrepreneurs, Shopee aims to foster stronger livelihoods and a more connected society.
Shopee also announced that beyond the Jelajah Komuniti, it would continue to support MSMEs nationwide through its RM50 million Shopee Rai Lokal MSME Growth Package, offering training, digital tools, and incentives to help sellers scale their businesses.
