Mambau: The six Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates shortlisted for the Ayer Kuning by-election are all considered capable of securing victory, with each having distinct strengths and weaknesses. BN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan emphasized the importance of evaluating these factors thoroughly.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamad Hasan stated that as the incumbent party, BN's senior leadership will meticulously assess the candidates and incorporate public opinion into their decision-making process. The final candidate will be announced approximately a week before nomination day, around April 5 or 6, providing the selected individual ample time to engage with voters.
The by-election for Ayer Kuning was necessitated by the demise of assemblyman Ishsam Shahruddin, who passed away at 58. He collapsed while participating in a friendly football match at City Stadium, Penang, on February 22.
