Sibu AADK Raids Drug Addict Haunts, 16 Individuals Arrested

Sibu: The Sibu National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) raided five locations known as drug addiction hotbeds around the town in "Ops Perdana" last night and arrested 16 individuals suspected of being involved in drug abuse.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Sibu AADK in its latest post on Facebook today stated that all the individuals, aged between 24 and 49, subsequently underwent urine screening tests. "A total of 16 individuals were arrested and out of that total, 14 people tested positive for drugs based on urine screening tests. The most detected drug was methamphetamine (syabu) with 10 individuals and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) involving four individuals," explained the agency.

The agency reported that the operation, which lasted for eight hours and began at 6 pm, involved nine officers from the agency. The agency emphasized that such operations are crucial to clean up areas that have become drug addiction hotbeds and provide a conducive and safe environment for the community.

Meanwhile, the Sibu AADK will continue to intensify detection and detention operations as well as prevention efforts. This is part of the strategy to ensure that the goal of 'Controlled Drugs 2025' is achieved for the sake of the country's well-being and the future of the young generation.
