Singapore: Singapore is set to launch two initiatives in 2026 to assist the Palestinian Authority (PA), featuring a Young Leaders' Programme that will provide emerging Palestinian leaders with insights into governance and public administration.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Singapore Foreign Minister Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan announced these initiatives, which include a joint training programme with Japan to enhance the community policing skills of the Palestinian Civil Police. These initiatives are part of Singapore's ongoing commitment to the PA's capacity-building and institutional development efforts, as Palestinians work towards statehood.
Balakrishnan, attending the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting and related events in Kuala Lumpur, unveiled the initiatives at the 4th Conference on Cooperation among East Asian Countries for Palestinian Development (CEAPAD) Ministerial Meeting. He also engaged in discussions with PA Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Estephan Salameh, inviting him to visit Singapore.
Singapore has consistently pledged to collaborate with the PA, particularly through the Enhanced Technical Assistance Package, to bolster their administrative and reconstruction capabilities.
