Kuala lumpur: SINTX Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: SINT), an advanced ceramics and biomaterials firm, has announced a supply agreement with Evonik Corporation, a leader in high-performance polymers, to create the company's proprietary silicon nitride-PEEK compound. This compound, covered under U.S. Patent No. 10,806,831, is designed for AI-assisted additive manufacturing of patient-specific implants, which will be produced using existing equipment at SINTX's U.S. facility.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, under this agreement, Evonik will leverage its commercial-scale capability to manufacture the SiN/PEEK compound according to SINTX's specifications. This arrangement will allow SINTX to immediately start producing AI-designed, 3D-printed, patient-specific implants. The company has already received physician requests for humanitarian-use vertebral body replacement implants for orthopedic and neurosurgical oncology patients following tumor resections in the spine. Furthermore, SINTX plans to use the SiN/PEEK compound to aid in obtaining regulatory clearances for patient-matched and traditional subtractive manufactured implantable devices.
