Six Areas in Sarawak Experience Unhealthy Air Quality

Sarawak: Six areas in Sarawak recorded Air Pollutant Index (API) readings at an unhealthy level as of 9 am today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, data from the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal showed that Serian recorded the highest reading at 187. Following closely were Kuching with a reading of 182, Sri Aman at 174, Samarahan at 165, Sarikei at 153, and Sibu at 123.

In contrast, 50 other areas across the nation recorded API readings at a moderate level, ranging from 51 to 100. Additionally, 12 areas maintained good air quality with API readings below 50.

The API categorizes air quality readings as follows: 0 to 50 is considered good, 51 to 100 is moderate, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 is very unhealthy, and readings exceeding 300 are classified as hazardous. The API data is provided hourly, sourced from 68 air quality monitoring stations located nationwide.
